Lancer Aviation, the Sacred Hearts Academy Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) team, has earned top honors in the state competition for a second year in a row.
Adviser Deborah Kula said, “The Lancer Aviation team’s 20-minute presentation for judges was the culmination of six months of research, design and planning for an unmanned aerial system performing precision agriculture tasks.”
The team includes sophomore Ellia Bower, junior Aimee Pak, and seniors Maria Cashdollar, Lauren Loualhati, Jasmine Quinn, Catherine Sequeira, and Angela Wong.
Wong said, “ I was able to make new friends, and RWDC made me appreciate all the hard work it takes to start a business. Although it was a learning process throughout the challenge, I truly enjoyed my time on the team. Many of the aspects of the challenge involved hard work. Although it was a bit frustrating at times, I had fun. I think that having a team helped me along this challenge. We pushed each other along and created a fun atmosphere in ‘the cave.’ I would definitely do this again next year.”
Quinn said, “ The experience of working on a project with teammates was an enjoyable one. The project took a lot of work and hours put into but was worth every minute of it. This is the second year that I competed and won. I am graduating this year and I want to continue learning more about real world designs.”
