Sacred Hearts Academy’s inaugural surf team is concluding its first season after recognizing seniors Sara Kea and Elora Speltz at Rockpiles during the surf season’s senior night earlier this month.

The team is scheduled to compete in a make-up contest at Queen’s Beach this week, with the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) Championships set for this Saturday at Ala Moana Bowls. Kea may also represent the school at the Hawaii state championships on Maui in girls bodyboarding.
Several contests were canceled during the season due to Kona low storms that affected ocean conditions and weather. Events at Makaha Beach and Ala Moana Bowls were among those impacted.

Brown water advisories, issued when runoff affects ocean water quality, also contributed to schedule disruptions. Competitions were not held when conditions were considered unsafe.
