After decades of fielding their own varsity softball team, Sacred Hearts Academy is turning a new page in its athletic story by joining the Pac-5 Wolfpack. This move marks a major shift for one of Honolulu’s most storied all-girls schools, bringing fresh opportunities for collaboration, competitiveness and community.
For years, the Academy’s varsity softball team played independently in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), upholding the school’s tradition of excellence, sportsmanship and resilience. However, recently due to no coaching staff the girls were left to wonder where they would end up. In January of 2026 the Academy’s softball team announced that they would be joining Coach Blake Lau at Pac-5.
For senior softball player Mana Siu, this season marks both an ending and a new beginning. After six years with PAC‑5, Siu approaches her final season with gratitude, excitement and a renewed sense of purpose.
“This year is different from last year because we have combined our team with everyone—SHA and Damien—in Division II, which allows us to play Division I this year,” Siu said.
The move brings fresh challenges and new opportunities, giving the team a chance to measure their growth on a bigger stage. With graduation approaching, Siu reflects on what truly matters most—her relationships with her teammates.
“One thing I want to take away from my last year playing is all the bonds I’ve made with my teammates over the years of playing with PAC‑5,” she said. Those connections, built through long practices, bus rides and shared victories, stand as her proudest achievement.
For Siu, this final season is more than a farewell—it’s a chance to leave a mark built on teamwork, perseverance and heart. Whether in Maui or beyond, her journey with PAC‑5 is one she’ll carry long after the last pitch is thrown.
When it comes to cultivating both skill and character, Collins of the PAC-5 softball team believes success begins with one simple word: consistency.
“Doing the same things over and over develops muscle memory,” Collins said. “It’s about never giving up and always putting your best foot forward.”
For Collins, that philosophy drives everything the team does—whether it’s running drills, perfecting their swings or supporting one another through long practices. The focus is less on perfection and more on steady progress, effort and mindset.
With their growing skill set, adaptability and tight-knit teamwork, the PAC-5 girls are preparing not only to compete—but to thrive under pressure. For Collins, the lessons of softball extend far beyond the game itself.
“Softball gives the girls tools in life that prepare them for the future—like teamwork,” she said. “These girls will always know how to play as a team and not be selfish.”
In her view, every practice and every inning is an opportunity to build qualities that last long after the final out. Collins’ philosophy makes it clear that PAC-5 softball is about more than wins and losses—it’s about developing strong, confident young women who carry the spirit of teamwork, consistency and positivity into everything they do.
