“127 hours: Between a Rock and a Hard Place,” written by mountaineer and outdoorsman, Aron Ralston, is an autobiography that begins on April 26, 2003, just another Saturday.

Ralston is biking and canyoneering an isolated circuit that runs 30 miles long and requires the repelling down to the bottom of a deep, narrow canyon system. He has with him a gallon of water, five chocolate bars, two burritos and a chocolate muffin as well as a multi-tool pocketknife, repelling and camera gear.

As he descends a narrow slot canyon, Ralston approaches a large unstable boulder. The boulder falls toward him and crushes his right hand against the canyon wall. His hand and wrist are now trapped by an unyielding 800-pound boulder 100 feet in the canyon.

This novel is for older teens to adults who are looking for an extraordinary survivor memoir, in which challenges are conquered and the impossible is done.

Ralston’s perseverance and incredible will to survive allow him to bear on in his harsh journey. This book is recommended for older teens to adults due to graphic and gory images and content around his entrapment and escape.
