Robert Downey Jr. returns as Sherlock Holmes in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” with his trusty sidekick Dr. Watson (Jude Law). Once again Holmes comes face to face with his nemesis Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris) whose intellect is on par with Holmes’.
Traveling to the Paris Opera House and the snow-covered mountains of Switzerland, Holmes pieces together the web of murders and crime that Moriarty has left behind in order to initiate a world war and make a hefty profit from it. With thrilling adventure, comical sense, treachery and suspense lurking at every corner, viewers will not be disappointed.
“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” is not shy in displaying its use of cool intellect, which adds new dimension to the characters and plot. The witty script, however, requires some thought and smarts to understand the complex plot. Once again viewers will be entertained by the unique chemistry between Holmes and Dr. Watson from their small arguments to the undeniable friendship.
With its slow-mo and fast-forward action scenes, the cinematography of the movie is stunning yet somewhat exaggerated. Although the movie may be over the top at various points, it suits the persona of Sherlock Holmes.
“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” is rated PG-13 due to some violent and inappropriate scenes for younger viewers.
