Known for his debut song, “Love Like Woe,” Jordan Witzigreuter, known by his stage name The Ready Set, continues to amaze fans with his most recent album “The Bad and the Better.” Released in May 2014, the album has won the hearts of fans and peaked at 75 on the Billboard 200 chart.

“The Bad and the Better” has 11 songs and three bonus tracks that feature their own electropop flare and addictive beats. The album was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, a Grammy-nominated music producer who has written, mixed and produced songs for groups such as Neon Trees, Plain White T’s and Korean pop group SHINee.

All songs on the album are incredibly addictive and will make fans jump out of their seats to sing or dance. In an interview with MTV, Witzigreuter expressed that every song he writes is a part of him.

“A lot of pop albums can be bland if they’re just chasing this one sound throughout,” said Witzigreuter. “I wanted to make sure my [album] sounded exactly like me.”

Two popular fan favorites include the album’s lead single “Higher” and the tenth track, “Castaway.”

“Higher” mixes a strong bass and subtle guitar throughout the song, creating an empowering and rousing feeling for  listeners. The music video is extremely eccentric and takes an interesting perspective on life lessons.

Witzigreuter wrote “Higher” during a time when he had a negative perspective on life.

“I wrote it to almost convince myself things could get better, so it came out of this anxiety-fueled state.” Witzigreuter said. “It’s about being able to look beyond the things in front of you that weigh you down and rise above it.”

“Castaway” flickers as a song of hope for underdogs everywhere and was inspired by fan support. The song sports an appearance by rapper Jake Miller, whose vocals only make “Castaway” sweeter and more riveting.

“I was really inspired by all the things I’ve heard from my fans through their notes and letters.” Witzigreuter said. “I wanted it to be one of those songs that lifts up the underdog a little bit and gives people hope.”

“The Bad and the Better” has songs that everyone can claim their favorite. With intricate and catchy tunes, it’s very hard to dislike the album. From romance to life, the album covers multitudes of concepts.

“The Bad and the Better” can be enjoyed by all ages, but some songs do contain curse words.

The album is available for purchase on iTunes and is streaming on Youtube, Spotify and Soundcloud.
