Junior Weiyi Huang took first place in the CyberHui Logo Design Contest for designing the community’s new logo. The contest was open to all Hawaii middle school, high school and college students.

Huang said, “I decided to enter the design contest because it combined the two things that I love: cybersecurity (CyberPatriot) and art.”

According to the CyberHui web site, her design “was selected to be the concept for the new logo.”

Huang’s artwork depicts a lock for cybersecurity, made of men holding hands, representing the “Hui” aspect of CyberHui. The “Hui” has people of different heights and skin colors. The people are joined together by their one dream: securing the computers in Hawaii and worldwide. The hibiscus is Hawaii’s state flower, representing Hawaii and the islands’ colors. The background of the flower represents sky, ocean and grassland. The lock’s square portion is a puzzle, connected by the code in binary numbers. The puzzle is only full and complete when “Hui” secures it. The phrase “CYBER SECURITY” is in metallic letters, representing CyberHui’s stability and securing Hawaii’s cyberspace.

CyberPatriot adviser Deborah Kula said, “I am very proud of Weiyi’s accomplishment. She deserves the award because she has put so much time and effort into the design. It’s like she absorbed cybersecurity (CyberPatriot) into her soul.”

CyberHui will use Huang’s design for its new logo. She also won a $200 Amazon gift card.
