On Nov. 20-24 the varsity basketball team won the pre-season Saint Francis Tournament, playing against Hawaii Prep Academy, Leilehua High School and Saint Francis, winning by over 20 points in each game.

The team consists of sophomores Zoe-Ann Yamamoto and Jessica Hanashiro, juniors Vikatolia Tapou, Kaela Fiesta and Cirena Aiwohi and seniors Melissa Rutkowski-Arocan, Megan Rutkowski-Arocan, Seyeranne Lat, Tiare Libarios-Moses, Celina Pagan, Eric Pagan and Hannah Moss making them a very diverse team.

Senior Celina Pagan said, “We have a lot more seniors on this team than any other grade but our communication on and off the court which makes us one unit.”

Sophomore Zoe-Ann Yamamoto agreed. “Even though I am one of the youngest on the team I notice that we all respect each other as players and individuals, which helps us to connect and trust each other on the court.”

The team starts its Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) season on Dec. 18 against Kamehameha Kapalama.
