Eight students and two Academy chaperones are off on the trip of a lifetime. The group will spend two weeks in China studying, visiting schools and forming new friendships.

Accompanied by Chinese teacher Lilly Zhang-Micco and Director  of Student Programs, Toni Normand, students Isabel Yeoh, Mabel Cheng, Malia Libby, Aimee Pak, Kennedy Cambra-Cho, Angela Hesch, Nicole Turina and Tiffany Lau have traveled for a two-week trip to Fuzhou, China.

The class blogs daily on http://china102013.blogspot.com/  about excursions in Fuzhou. The travelers arrived on Oct. 22 at Fuzhou Changle International Airport and waited in long lines for immigration check.

Pak said, “After [arriving], we met with some of the big sisters from the HwaNan Women’s College. They were easy to spot because they had a large red banner with ‘Sacred Hearts Academy’ written on it.”

“We got to tour the campus and meet the students. The school is really pretty and they’ve got their own lake!” said Turina.

On Oct. 23,  students met students in English classes.

“We have had a very fun day at the HwaNan Women’s College. Today, four of us visited an English class held at the university and gave a few introductory speeches about ourselves,” said Yeoh. “We conversed with the students, exchanged emails and made international friends.”

Hesch said, “We all loaded up on snacks which we thought would taste good or looked interesting. Since we will be going on an overnight trip to WuYi mountain tomorrow, we thought it would be a good idea to bring along some snacks.”
