Tumblr.com, a free blogging web site, was founded in 2007 by David Karp. Since then, more than 99 million users have taken advantage of Tumblr.
Tumblr users have free range over their blogs and can post text, photos, quotes, links, music and videos from their browser, phone, desktop or email. Users can customize everything from colors to themes.
Sophomore Nicole Baker said, “Tumblr is my escape from the world. I can format my blog into any style I want and make it my own. I go on Tumblr daily and spend around 1-2 hours on the weekend blogging. The quotes and advice that people blog about are helpful. Anything that I reblog is a direct reflection of something that’s going on in my life at that time.”
Text posts range from sharing poetry and songs to favorite quotes and phrases. Inspiration and humor fill Tumblr users’ dashboards. Users blog to express themselves and for entertainment purposes.
“Tumblr provides me a great creative outlet for my pictures. I love quality photography, and I try to post pictures every day. It’s great to follow blogs with the same interests and compare their work to my own,” said junior Anjelica Barker.
Eighth grader Carlee Matsunaga also loves Tumblr. “This is where I can find myself within quotes, photos and videos. I have made friends from different countries that share the same interests. Tumblr is a wonderful web site where people can connect and share their ideas with ease,” said Matsunaga.

I think that Tumblr is a cool way for teens to express themselves. I personally don’t have a tumblr, but I have friends who have a tumblr and I like watching them explore and create with the website. Some people think that these website either ”rott our brains” or get us into trouble. Personally, I think that these websites provide an outlet for teens. I am a growing teen and sometimes I need to vent, websites like these allow me not only to release some steam, but I can learn stuff.

I think tumblr is a great way for kids to express themselves and show it to the world and make it public. I think there are many different social networks for pictures and posts like Facebook or instagram and I think tumblr is one of the safer ones. I like that you can have a creative outlet and be safe and have fun at the same time. It is also a good way to connect with friends.

Tumblr is a great way of finding new inspiration to artwork and photography. I agree that it feels like an escape from the world because sometimes it’s nice to find joy in something that is always close by. It also gives me inspiration to express myself in artwork, photography, or writing.

Tumblr can be a really good site! It proovides easy format for blogging. I read sooooooo many different tumblers and they are great for inspiration in art, fashion, being positive, etc. I think so long as people are safe on tumblr that it is awesome possum!

I think Tumblr is a good creative outlet for teens, but it depends on what you are inspired by. There are many different blogs on Tumblr, and they all aren’t the same. Some people reblog food, gifs, songs, sad stories, etc. It depends what the people like and want to reblog. Overall, Tumblr is a world where you can be yourself, because wherever you are, there are people that are inspired by you and follow you.
