Counselor leads college tour to San Francisco

Sacred Hearts Academy is sponsoring another college tour this summer to San Francisco from June 23 to 27.

The tour will be stop at the University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, Stanford University, the University of California Berkeley, St. Mary’s College of California, Holy Names University, Mills College and Santa Clara University.

Junior Ashley Barley said, “ I went to the college tour during winter break and I found it very educational. We visited the University of Portland, which is my number one choice. I got to see their campus and talk to some of the students about daily life at college. College tours are great for prospective students to get a better perspective of colleges in the mainland that we are not usually exposed to.”

College Counselor Randall Fong said, “I hope to have around 20 students for the tour. We will be going to eight colleges, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Fisherman’s Wharf. Seeing the surrounding area and the available transportation of colleges in person makes a big difference in deciding what colleges to consider.”

Registration forms and itinerary will be on Edline and also available through Fong. Cost is $1,450 which includes air fare, hotel, ground transportation, all meals except dinner, admission to Six Flags Magic Mountain and sightseeing. Students will also receive a workbook which provides information about the colleges being visited. Contact Fong at rfong@sacredhearts.org for more information.

After reading this article, it brings back memories when I went on the college tour back in November. We visited many colleges in Southern California, spent the whole day at Disneyland, and went shopping. It was such a great experience and now I have an idea of what colleges I would like to apply to. I would also like to go on this college tour to view colleges in the north, but unfortunately I am unable to. I hope everyone has a fun time like I did when I went. I wish I could relive that week of college tours, shopping, and Disneyland.

After reading this article, I am now so anxious to go on such a trip in the future! I think that the idea of going to different colleges to view the campus, the environment, and the school itself is very incredible! Another thing I liked about this college trip is that not only that you get to tour the colleges, but that there is the option of going to some sites in the area for future reference of the environment around the college!
