Sacred Hearts Academy hosts Hiki No on PBS

For the first time, Sacred Hearts Academy hosted the Hiki No program on Jan. 24 on KHET, Channel 10.

Hiki No is the nation’s first statewide student news network, partnering with over 54 public, private and charter schools in Hawaii. Through the program, PBS Hawaii gives students opportunities to learn 21st century skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, communication and videography.

Students from the Video Production class, Cierra Ponimoi, Megan Wellman, Kuuleilani Woods, anchor Tiffany Lau, and Ka Leo’s Noelle Yee, worked with instructor Randy Pong and were trained by PBS to introduce the Academy to the community while also providing voice introductions to 10 schools from Oahu and neighboring islands.

Sacred Hearts Academy was previously featured on Hiki No with a segment about Sr. Julie Louise Thevenin and another by graduate Richel Cole. PBS broadcasts Hiki No every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The show can also be seen on the PBS web site.
