Mother’s Day is the perfect time for children to express how much they appreciate their mothers in their lives. Children do not have to buy gifts to show their appreciation, there are other inexpensive, often free, expressions that children can give to their mothers.
“My family and I make breakfast for our mother every year,” junior Sierra Ching said. “I enjoy making breakfast for her because I just enjoy doing things for her.”
“For Mother’s Day I love to cook for my mom,” junior Kahea Liederbach said. “I feel like I’m doing a special favor by cooking for her because she always cooks for me.”
A homemade spa is sure to make an unforgettable Mother’s Day treat. Children can offer to give their moms facials, manicures, pedicures and massages to help release any stress or tension that they may have.
Another thoughtful gift idea is a scrapbook. Special pictures of mother and her child together, or even just pictures of her children can be put in the scrapbook and decorated to be a handmade keepsake for mom to enjoy for a long time.
“I made my mom a movie for this Mother’s Day,” junior Erika Kang said. “I am also giving her my ceramic bowls that I made in class this semester.”
If children are having a hard time deciding on what to give their mother for Mother’s Day, web sites on the Internet have an abundance of different gifts and ideas. There is even a web site, mothersdaycentral, that focuses on ideas for Mother’s Day with a page of “151 Great Mother’s Day Craft Ideas” from which families can easily choose what gift they want to make with step-by-step directions on how to make them.
