Spring sports just wrapped up including golf, track and field, softball, water polo, judo and tennis.
This year’s Pac-5 judo team which has four Sacred Hearts students had the best season yet. Senior Taira Gay and freshman Kaela Fiesta placed second in their weight classes while junior Mary Antopina placed fourth in hers. Junior Kelli Ann Omatsu became the first Academy ILH judo champion in the ILH.
Varsity track and field also had a successful season. Senior Emalata Maka placed fourth in discus and third in shot put.
In the long jump senior Kayla Kirk came in second. In the triple jump junior Kaisha Laconsay came in seventh while junior Nikki Sen landed in eighth.
In the 100-meter dash senior Alexis Damo came in second while sophomore Tiffany Atud came in third. In the 200-meter dash Damo came in second, Atud fourth and Kirk fifthth. The girls 4×100 meter relay came in third.
Varsity softball season came to a close against the Iolani Red Raiders. The team had a good season but fell to Iolani 4-2, missings a chance to go to the state tournament.
Senior Anjela Kim once again had a successful golf season making it to states on Kauai. She has been to states all four years of high school.
The Pac-5 water polo team which included four Academy students came in second this year in the ILH.
The varsity tennis team had three members who made it to the second match of post-season tournament to get to states.
