New classes have been added to the curriculum for Academy students, including AP Psychology and Drama. Other courses, AP Chemistry and AP U.S. Government, bring with them a new campus as well. These changes have been welcomed by students.
“We are working with Saint Louis. By combining resources, we can offer and be offered classes that we did not have before. We share teachers who commute to Sacred Hearts as do our students,” said Vice-principal Linda Debo.
“By combining, we can fill up upper level classes with lower student counts in them. The idea evolved and opportunities arose, such as the Drama and Psychology classes, as well as Sacred Hearts girls wanting to take classes available at Saint Louis such as AP Chemistry and AP U.S. Government. Likewise, our Chinese I and II classes have become available to Saint Louis boys,” said Debo.
“Due to the combining of schools, our schedule had to change. Both schools had to adopt a similar bell schedule, the Saint Louis assembly schedule, and exams are now before Christmas. We are released for summer earlier. However, graduation will still be the same time,” said Debo.
“Everyone seems to be really interested in AP Psychology and everyone was really excited to take it. We even had enough interest to make our own class here on campus,” said senior Jacqui Rodriguez.
“Overall, the transition has gone very well considering everything and all the changes; the girls are enjoying their classes and have an added benefit of newly available courses,” said Debo.
