The Sacred Hearts Academy Room Parent (SHARP) board is sponsoring a free interactive workshop titled “Protect Yourself: Be Smart. Be Ready. Be Safe.”

Workshop speakers and performers include the Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY), the Sex Abuse Treatment Center (SATC) and Taekwondo Honolulu.

The workshop will focus on self-defense, safe dating and healthy relationships.

The first part of the workshop will include activities for students and parents. Students will participate in an interactive play focused on dating relationships. Parents will take part in a discussion led by SATC staff members on how to best communicate with teens about dating and healthy and unhealthy relationships.

The second part of the workshop is for everyone to discuss safety tips and feature hands-on demonstrations of basic self-defense techniques by Taekwondo Honolulu teachers and students.

The workshop will be followed by a light dinner of salad and pizza, donated by Papa John’s.

Students and parents in grades 10 through 12 are invited to this workshop on Mar. 7 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Clarence T.C. Ching Student Center.
