Over 30 alumnae participated in the annual Alumnae Forum to discuss college experiences and to give current high school students insights into studies after graduation.

The speakers attend schools all over the country, from colleges on the East and West Coasts and on Oahu.

The event helps students understand a little more about what college life can be. Topics such as courses, class size, dormitory living, time management and adapting to new environments were covered.

Graduate Adria Fung, a senior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, said, “I hope that the students learn to explore new possibilities and to take risks. The college life I thought I would have when I was in high school came out to be totally different, but I’m grateful for that. I hope students can talk to new people about college.”

The forum was especially helpful to the Senior Class, for whom college will soon be a reality.

Senior Remi Tokunaga said, “Hearing former Academy students allowed me to relate to them and feel like they understand what I have experienced in high school. Also, their experiences were insightful. From what was discussed, I learned more about possible roommates, how to manage time and what to expect overall during college.”
