Sacred Hearts Academy’s Digital Media Club showcased its top 20 videos, four of which won statewide recognition among the 100 entries submitted to video competitions.

At the 5th Annual Red Carpet Event, families enjoyed themselves with a photobooth, free popcorn and student movie premieres. Families voted for their favorite movie.

Lower School Librarian Laurel Oshiro said, “Students were in charge of hosting the event and the lighting and sound system.”

At the end of the event, the winner of the People’s Choice Award video was fourth grader Samantha Europa’s “Gold.”

Europa said, “I chose the song ‘Gold’ because there are people who feel like they are no one. I wanted to show that everyone is beautiful and special.”

The aim of the video was to show people to accept themselves as they are. The production of the video took two months and two days.

“I felt happy and excited when I won. I learned life lessons such as never giving up,” said Europa.

The Digital Media Club gives students a voice and showcases ways to make Hawaii and the community a better place.
