Academy’s weight room under renovation
May 1, 2015
The Sacred Hearts Academy Room Parent (SHARP) Board and the Pettus Foundation helped fund the renovation of the weight room.
The physical condition of the room has deteriorated since it was created in 1980 and used over the past 35 years.
The refurbished room will accommodate new training methods for athletes that will be more functional and more motivational.
Athletic Director Ryan Hogue said, “The new equipment includes a new Olympic movement station, free weights and core machines. A trainer will also be hired to help the athletes with the new training.”
The Academy hosted a community work day on Mar. 28 to clean and paint the room, hoping to save money for new equipment.
Hogue said, “The community is helping financially and by doing the prep work which included removing old electrical systems, mirrors, taking out the floors and ceiling.”
