Two teams from the Introduction to Engineering class participated in the West Oahu VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) at UH West Oahu on Nov. 15.

Team 2437A consisted of rookies, seniors Alyssa Ablao and Jamie Toler, and junior Kristi-Ashley Wongham, and returning VEX captain senior Kristen Kate Tumacder. Team 2437B consisted of rookies, seniors Dominique Bontog, Amanda Shimabukuro, Chelsi Sordillia and Debi Sordillia.

The rookies participated in VRC for the first time with the robots and programs that they had completed in class.

Although they ranked low, both teams enjoyed the competition and demonstrated great team spirit and cooperation.

Though the West Oahu VRC is the last competition on Oahu for VEX, senior Tumacder, juniors Michaela Graves, Malia Libby, Aimee Pak and Cameron Pires, sophomore Ashley Marie Lardizabal, and eighth grader Jenna Tanna qualified for the Hawaiian Electric Company’s Hawaii State VEX Championship at the McKinley Vexposition on Jan. 9 -10.
