Senior Hailey Ganiron has been selected Lancer of the Month for September.

Ganiron has been bowling since the eighth grade and was first introduced to the sport by her father. She is one half of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu’s (ILH) Doubles Champions and holds the highest single average in the league.

Ganiron is not only an outstanding athlete but an exceptional student as well, with a 3.8 GPA.

“The majority of the time when I know I have a match, I try to plan around that, and because I’m on the road so often trying to get to matches, I do a lot of my homework in the car or stay up super late. Coffee helps,” said Ganiron.

Athletic director Ryan Hogue believes that Ganiron is the ideal candidate for Lancer of the Month.

Hogue said, “For Lancer of the Month, we’re looking for someone who is well-rounded, who is a good leader, both in athletics and on campus, someone who takes her academics very seriously and who works hard and takes on challenges. I think Hailey takes on challenges and tasks that people ask of her, and she does it with a willing attitude. She’s very focused and works hard at her bowling skills.”

Ganiron is so passionate about the sport that she intends to pursue it in the future.

“After I’m done with my senior year, I know that I want to coach later on. That feeling of everyone working together for a common goal is exciting. You all want to bowl well and you encourage each other and you work with each other. It’s really cool,” Ganiron said.
