Meet the neighbor of Paiko botanical boutique: Arvo Cafe. Located in Kakaako, this quaint cafe will satisfy any caffeine or food craving, with an added Australian twist.

Sisters Casey Wiggins and Dixie Rose and Rose’s husband first opened Arvo a few years ago. The three were inspired by Australia’s cuisine, creating a menu that featured many Australian-style dishes.

Food options such as Vegemite toast and salmon toast are available to customers. Vegemite is a thick, black Australian food spread made from leftover brewers’ yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives.

Those looking to quench their thirst can order from Arvo’s extensive drink menu, which includes drip coffee and matcha lattes.

“That (Smoked Salmon Toast) was so good,” Sacred Hearts Academy junior Stella Supall said. “It went really well with the lemon and the capers because it was tangy, and the bread was crispy on the edge.”

Arvo Cafe is opened Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on weekends from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.arvocafe.com
