Modern R&B artist LostBoyCrow draws in listeners with his soothing voice and affection for his lover in his EP album “Sigh for Me.”

Released on Jan. 15, the album features five tracks that induce a sense of calmness within the audience and cause fans to appreciate the beautiful vulnerability of being in love.

The first track “Powers” focuses on a man who feels powerless because of his all-encompassing affection for his significant other. The song starts off with the gentle strum of a guitar that intensifies into a pounding bass, symbolizing how his love for his crush strengthens as time passes. It’s a great start to the album, as it prefaces the subject matter of the tracks that follow.

The meaning of the second song, “Talk Back to Me,”  can be interpreted in two ways: a man singing about how he yearns for his ex-lover or a person frustrated because his crush, who is aware of his affections, is pushing him away. The desire and longing for his significant other is evident in LostBoyCrow’s voice, making the song even more realistic for those who listen to it.

The next song, “Love Won’t Sleep,” is a fan favorite and is the most popular song on the album. LostBoyCrow sings about how a person cannot sleep because he or she cannot stop thinking about their lover. The smooth beat will have anyone nodding and swaying in their seats.

On his official YouTube channel, LostBoyCrow gives a more thorough explanation about “Love Won’t Sleep.”

“The song came from a place of desperation and desire. I’d like to think the truest art can always be found exactly in between the two,” he said.  “‘Love Won’t Sleep,’ is a love song at its core but really, an anthem for letting the words and melodies write themselves. All you have to be is open and vulnerable.”

The fourth song “My Heart is a Weapon” features Jon Waltz and is about a person who is fully devoted to a lover that does not fully reciprocate their feelings.

“The Lost Boy,” the last track that features Skizzy Mars, discusses finding oneself by loving others. The piano and gentle beat is soulful and profound, inducing a calm atmosphere that will encourage listeners to overcome their fear of love. It is a motivational, thought-provoking song that is great to blast in the car on a sunny afternoon.

LostBoyCrow’s “Sigh For Me” is chock-full of romantic songs that aim to spread the message that love is not weakness. It approaches the subject of vulnerability as a way to prove that we, as humans, are able to create strong connections with others. Although all songs can be enjoyed by people of all ages, some songs contain explicit language and subject matter.

The album is streaming on SoundCloud and YouTube and can be purchased on iTunes.
