Seniors Jessica Hanashiro and Zoe-Ann Yamamoto played in the Third Annual Geremy Robinson Senior Classic for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) at Radford’s Jim Alegre gymnasium against the Oahu Interscholastic Association(OIA).

The Senior Classic is the last chance for senior all-stars to compete against each other. This year’s classic  was the first time neighbor island athletes could participate.

The tournament was an opportunity for girls from smaller schools, such as Sacred Hearts, to showcase their skills. Division II schools, including Damien and St.Francis, represented their all-star athletes.

“The experience was like no other. We made new friendships and learned from each other. It was a great opportunity to play with the girls we don’t usually play with,” said Yamamoto.

Despite the loss of 70-60, athletes felt it was a positive experience for everyone.

Hanashiro said, “It was a bittersweet feeling representing my high school one last time before going off to college. I was happy that I got to play with Zoe one more time and compete against the other girls.”

Athletic Director Ryan Hogue said, “The girls did an outstanding job on the court in representing Sacred Hearts Academy.”
