‘Meridian’ portrays battle between angels

“Meridian” by Amber Kizer is the story of Meridian Sozu, a human-angel hybrid which guides souls to Heaven.
Since her youth, Meridian has had multiple experiences with death. Small animals and insects die in her presence, earning her the nickname “Reaper.” An outcast, Meridian struggles to understand why she attracts such gruesome events and wonders if there is something wrong with her.
Meridian’s life turns upside down on her sixteenth birthday when she witnesses a car crash that leaves many dead. Though she is physically unscathed, Meridian’s body erupts with dizzying pain that leaves her disoriented. Panic erupts between her parents, who begin packing their bags and telling Meridian that she is in danger.
For her protection, Meridian is sent to Revelation, Colo., to live with her great-aunt. It is here that Meridian’s true identity is revealed: she is a Fenestra, a half-human, half-angel being that grants passage to souls to the afterlife. Under her aunt’s guidance, Meridian has to learn to control her powers and help fight against the Aternocti, dark angels that collect innocent souls and sow seeds of destruction.
With her head full of confusion and a blooming affection for her protector, Tens, Meridian battles her own inner demons as she struggles to protect her loved ones and achieve a balance between the living and dead.
“Meridian” will have readers captivated with its dark overlay of danger and subtle romance. The novel mixes fantasy with a dash of the supernatural, producing an riveting, enchanting read. “Meridian” is recommended for teens 12 and older due to some violence and graphic imagery.
