Throughout the month of October, students in service clubs are participating in a multitude of community service events.
Leo club volunteers are contributing hours at various events: Love Strong on Oct. 20, Make a Difference for Animals Day on Oct. 25, and Run for Your Lives on Oct. 26.
Leo club officer Caroline Kikkawa said, “We have many exciting, diverse events coming up, allowing members to volunteer and be exposed to different people and causes.”
The Soroptimist, or S, club volunteered at a Graffiti Busting Day on Oct. 19.
Soroptimist club adviser Randall Fong said, “We’re participating in the Graffiti Busting Day as concerned community members, wanting to clean up the appearance of public areas.”
The group is also assisting officials at the Nov. 2 Color Run and ushering at a University of Hawaii at Manoa play on Nov. 22.
Outreach Unity and Renewal (OUR) club is donating time to Loliana Hale on Oct. 30.
Club co-adviser Cristina Smith said, “At the late October event, we will play games, eat snacks and provide resources for many families. Interacting with this particular community near the Halloween holiday will bring the kids together so they can have a fun time.”
