Members of the Outreach, Unity and Renewal (OUR) club and National Honor Society (NHS) participated in a traditional Christmas event at Loliana Hale on Dec 11.
In addition to hosting a party for the families at the transitional housing shelter, students distributed the gifts that students of the Academy had donated. Each child received presents from high school homerooms.
The Academy has been involved in supporting the transitional housing center for many years.
Junior Haley Clark said, “Many of the children at Loliana Hale are not accustomed to receiving presents during the Christmas season. Their appreciation for the one present they received was a humbling experience.”
Both clubs center their events around community service which gives students opportunities to share and help others.
During the holiday season, Sacred Hearts Academy actively engages in projects helping others, including a canned food drive, a celebration for Loliana Hale and this year, raising funds for Operation Haiyan Relief.
Senior Nadia Busekrus said, “I enjoy doing service projects like these because they remind me of the real reason for the holiday season.”
