Sacred Hearts Academy is fundraising through “Operation Haiyan Relief” for the Philippines hit by Typhoon Haiyan.
Director of Student Activities, Toni Normand, said, “We are very excited to be fundraising relief efforts for the victims in the Philippines with button sales along with the ‘Wake up and Help the Philippines Pajama Dress Down Day.’ This will mark the first pajama dress down day and we are excited to see the turnout Thursday!”
Students who have donated will be able to wear pajamas and purchase a Lancer Care Button for $5. All of the proceeds will go to “Operation Haiyan Relief.”
Student Council Representative, Erica Freitas, said, “As a school, we want to help the Philippines and make a difference and spread awareness. We wanted to figure out how we could help the Philippines so that the students will participate. A pajama day seemed like a good idea for maximum student support. We are asking them to help the Philippines and donate.”
Senior Nicole Corpuz said, “I am happy that the Academy is supporting the Philippines because I have many friends and family members who were affected by the typhoon. I have been looking for ways to donate and support the Philippines and I am glad that we have this opportunity.”
Additional monetary donations are also being accepted for “Operation Haiyan Relief.”
