The Sacred Hearts Academy band will spend spring break, Mar. 8-16, attending a clinic at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney, in Australia.
“I’m super excited for this. It’s not very often you’re able to get to go out of the country with some of your school friends while also having a learning experience,” said junior Nicole Corpuz.
The band will be participating in a joint concert and social with other participating high school students.
“I’m really looking forward to this trip. I hope to learn about Australia and their culture. I have some family there, so I want to better understand the way they live their life,” said junior Danielle Ho.
Fifty-four students are are traveling with 25 family members.
“Our band is very excited as they prepare to travel to Sydney. We all look forward to touring the city. The band students are working hard right now to prepare their music for the clinic,” said band director Keith Higaki.
Participants will tour the city, visit Sydney Harbour, and aquarium, Taronga Zoo, and the Sydney Opera House and have several walking tours.

I wish I could go to Australia, but I can’t. This article is very descriptive and it makes me interested in reading more about this topic. Also, a lot of the articles I read are about different topics all around the school, which is good. It allows students to read about the different things we are all interested in.

I am so fortunate as to be able to tag-along with the band when they go to Australia. I’m very excited to see Australia and pet a koala bear. I’m in beginning band and I hope that we will be able to these types of things when we are older. I hope this trip will be fun and I hope the band members perform well and enjoy themselves.

I found this article a little interesting. I think that this article could have had a little more information about the band instead of the people’s opinions. When I read this I felt a little jealous, due to me being in Beginning band at this moment and that I am not allowed to go. Thank you for letting me comment.
