The new year always comes with new goals. As the third quarter starts, students reflect on the previous semester and look at what worked for them and what didn’t so that they can be successful.
Social Studies teacher Wendi Vincent said, “Setting goals helps to keep a student’s eye on the prize. Goal-setting helps to always work toward something and stay on track.”
Some students have mastered time management, but many haven’t because it is easier said than done.
“A tip for students to have a successful third quarter would be to have better time management, not to procrastinate and put off projects till the last minute,” Vice-principal Linda Debo said.
Organization is another key to success.
Junior Angela Wong said, “I write down everything I need to do in my planner every day. It’s an easy way to remember to do my homework every night and map out my future projects.”
Building good rapport with one’s teacher is also recommended.
“It is really important to talk to your teachers and build a relationship with them. If you need help, don’t be afraid to go in and learn what you need to fix so that you can make it better,” counselor Donna Ramos said.
Vincent said, “In the end it is the responsibility of the student to drive themselves to make the best out of their final years of high school so that ultimately they can exceed the goals put in place.”
