Annual bake sale raises money for AUW
October 24, 2014
Academy students wholeheartedly supported the annual Aloha United Way (AUW) Bake Sale in the Clarence T.C. Ching Student Center on Oct. 23.
Students and their families donated baked goods, jars of jelly, fresh fruit, fruit juices, trail mix, pretzels, popcorn and other snacks, allowing students a wide variety of snacks for the day.
Junior Nicole Pagdilao said, “I always enjoy going to the bake sale because they always offer a wide range of baked goods. Since there’s a lot of different types of foods, this encourages students to buy even more.”
Sixth grader Marley Arecchi said, “This was my first time going to the bake sale and it was a great experience. I bought a lot of sweets because I knew that the money is going to a good cause.”
This year’s bake sale raised $3,925.29 which will benefit the AUW.
Lower school Vice-principal, Remee Tam, said, “This year’s bake sale brought us the most delicious and most creatively decorated cakes, cupcakes and a variety of snacks. More importantly, it’s a good exercise for our students to help their community.”
