Art + Flea provides a market place for crafters, entrepreneurs, artists and collectors to sell their handmade creations and vintage goods.
A variety of vendors sells handmade crafts, personally produced music, original art, collectible items, local foods and second-hand items.
Senior Noel Kenny said, “I have participated as a vendor for the past two events. I make customized t-shirts, and being able to sell my products at Art + Flea is a great way to expose my business, ‘Slug Clothing.’ One shirt costs $15 and I am able to sell a majority of them.”
Begun in 2011, Art + Flea has created a venue where small businesses have the potential to grow and become successful.
Senior Elizabeth Serrao said, “My sister makes customized iPhone cases and has participated as a vendor at Art +Flea for the past two events. She has been successful and her business, ‘Arabella,’ has become more well-known.”
Art + Flea is held every fourth Thursday of the month at various locations. Each month there is a new theme for the whole event. For April, the theme is “Love for Wes” and will be held on Apr. 24 from 6-11 p.m. at 449 + 445 Cooke St. It is open to all ages with an entrance fee of three dollars.
