The Class of 2016 celebrated Sophomore Week from Apr. 5-13 with the theme of “Spring Fever.”
The week began on Saturday with “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny,” a fundraiser for Project Graduation. More than 150 participants enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and an Easter egg hunt.
Sophomore Council member, Nikaela Busekrus, said, “Since we had a fundraiser for our Project Grad involving Easter, we decided to carry this theme into the week. The Sophomore Council and I wanted our division to have as much fun as possible, and we were able to do so by including some delicious treats.”
On Monday and Thursday, the sophomores enjoyed colorful sweet doughnuts and Tropilicious Ice Cream-Sorbet.
On Tuesday, students were allowed to wear spring-colored bracelets, earrings, hair bands, flowers and colorful socks with the daily blue uniform. Spring-related pins were also allowed to be added to ties. In homeroom, each student was also given a faux plumeria hair clip to join the celebration of spring.
On Wednesday, sophomores participated in an activity with their senior big sisters on the main walkway in front of the Ching Center. With their big sisters, sophomores wrote Easter greetings and drew a variety of symbols representing spring. Rainbows, bunnies, eggs and flowers were some of the popular icons that filled the walkway.
Sophomore Kaleoaloha Ladao said, “I really thought that Sophomore Week was fun and very creative. I enjoyed participating in the chalk drawing activity because we were able to spend time with our big sisters, who will be graduating real soon.”
On Friday, sophomores wore division tee shirts.
To close the week, the annual Father-Daughter Luncheon was held on Sunday at the Manoa Grand Ballroom, ending a wonderful, fun-filled spring week.
