Students are in the final quarter of the school year, a time well known for major events. In the excitement, however, it is essential for students to maintain grades and stay focused.
Due to the frenzy of the end of the year, students can be tempted to be apathetic towards schoolwork. Resisting such laziness, however, can be achieved.
Senior Tiare Sadarananda said, “Although it is sometimes difficult to stay motivated, I push myself to continue concentrating on my schoolwork. I try to work just as hard as I did at the beginning of the year, attempting to portray consistency by continually getting good grades.”
Maintaining success through the fourth quarter is of utmost importance. Grades validate Honors and Advanced Placement course enrollment and ensure a positive end to the school year. For many seniors, final transcripts sent to colleges verify scholarship.
College Counselor, Randall Fong, said, “Students must prioritize their school work and resist getting distracted. Free time will come in the future but there is an extremely small window to be academically successful right now. For this reason, students must focus on the latter during the fourth quarter.”
Students should be organized and keep track of assignments through planners and study in advance for tests. Being vigilant of grades, talking to teachers and going for tutoring are also helpful ways to maintain success in school.
Senior Katie Lee said, “To continue doing well in class, I pay attention when the teacher speaks and make it a point to take notes on important points. Additionally, I attempt to be an active participant.”
