Senior Celina Pagan was recognized as Lancer of the Month for January. Pagan was named most valuable player (MVP) at the St. Francis and McKinley pre-season basketball tournaments. Pagan was the captain of the varsity team and led them through a competitive, hardworking season.
Pagan said, “This season was a great one full of memories. The team was a close group of girls who stuck together and never gave up.”
Pagan is also involved with the Soroptimist club and Kalakaua basketball club while maintaining a 3.8 GPA.
English teacher, Jill Sprott, said, “Celina is always excited and energetic for class. She keeps the class fun and always is involved in class discussion.”
Drama teacher, Shannon Patalano, echoed those thoughts. “Celina rises to all challenges given to her and is the first to support and cheer on her classmates. She is a very loyal friend and sister who brings smiles and laughter to everyone around her.”
Pagan hopes to play collegiate basketball.
“I’ve always had dreams of playing basketball at the next level, but I am still not sure where I will be going. My top three choices would be Western Oregon University, Concordia University and Hawaii Pacific University.”
