Fifth graders Alyse Glaser, Jamie Acoba, Kelly Thieu, Laura Gries and Shari Ho will be representing Sacred Hearts Academy on the OC16 TV show PlaySmart Hawaii: Hawaii’s Premiere 5th Grade Elementary School TV Game Show. The fifth graders will test their knowledge in the 2014 installment of OC16’s “PlaySmart Hawaii,” the State’s premiere fifth grade television game show.
They competed against Wilson Elementary School on their knowledge in science, math, art, reading, and trivia on Saturday, January 25 in Pearl City.
Librarian Laurel Oshiro said. “If they win this round, they will be asked to return on another Saturday for filming of Round 2. They need to win Round 4 to get the Grand Prize.”
They will be competing against a total of 15 schools. Grand Prize winners will receive $7,000 worth of Smartboard equipment for their school. Their show will air in mid-February.
Oshiro said, “It is an opportunity for them to practice teamwork and good sportsmanship while they challenge themselves in various subjects.”
