Thirteen Sacred Hearts students have been invited to perform with the 2013 Hawaii All-State Marching Band, NA KOA ALI’I, which was formed in 2002 as a private performing organization.
Academy band director, Keith Higaki, said, “The group is open to representatives from each public and private school that has an instrumental/band music and performing arts program in the state of Hawaii. Band directors and teachers have invited select members from their schools to participate in this unique organization.”
Students selected include band members, Kristen Andres, Kristin Barroga, Corrina Joyce Cabantangan, Caitlin Cunningham, Danielle Ho, Kasandra Kitagawa, Christine McCabe, Lei Angeline Ngoap, Jasmine Quinn, Maile Romano and Jamie Suh, and dancers Kara Takahashi and Kaitlen Daoang.
The band will be at the front of the parade.
“The group will be making their third appearance at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1. Past appearances were in 2009 and 2003,” said Higaki.
