Senior Sara Tashima, recent third place finisher in the Air Riflery State Championships, qualified for the Air Riflery Junior Olympics which will take place in Colorado in April.
Only one athlete from each state is selected to compete in the national competition. Tashima will represent Hawaii in the spring.
Tashima said, “I feel very fortunate to qualify for the Junior Olympics and to have the chance to compete at a higher level. It’s incredible to reach such a peak in my senior year and I hope to make the best of this opportunity.”
Tashima hopes to earn an air riflery scholarship from the University of Nevada Reno.
