The Academy high school honored grandparents in the annual Grandparents’ Day on Nov. 22. Over one hundred grandparents attended and enjoyed a wonderful celebration with their granddaughters.
“It was very nice to have the grandparents join us for the liturgical celebration,” said Toni Normand, Director of Student Activities.
Guests were greeted with light refreshments and a chance for pictures with their granddaughters. Afterwards, they participated in the collection of canned goods for St. George’s parish in Waimanalo. During the paraliturgy each homeroom brought the canned goods they had been collecting for the past few weeks. The 2,389 donated goods were blessed and later to be distributed. Grandparents then went to homerooms for activities and light snacks and to spend time with their granddaughters.
“I liked to see how many canned goods there were. Students donated a lot this year!” said junior Nicole Sarmiento.
The lower school celebrated their Grandparents’ Day the following Monday morning following the same activities as the high school.
