Sacred Hearts held a series of events leading up to Halloween in recognition of the October holiday.
Fright Night took place on Oct. 26. A ghoulish haunted house was accompanied by nail and face painting, food, balloon making, Trick-or-Treating and a dance.
Student Council Vice-president, Caroline Kikkawa, said, “Students from kindergarten to twelfth grade and their parents could enjoy all the activities and games throughout the night. It really got people in the mood for the upcoming events.”
Fright Night offered the opportunity to “preview” costumes before Halloween. Students could wear costumes to school for Costume for a Cause on Oct. 31 while contributing a $3 donation to Aloha United Way. A total of $1,401 was raised.
The lower school participated in a costume parade on Halloween, allowing students to see classmates’ creative apparel.
A costume contest was also held during a pep rally for the upper school.
Senior Anjelica Barker said, “I dressed up as Aloha Spirit. It was fun to see what creative ideas other people had.”
The Halloween pep rally took place at the end of the day during which each grade performed cheers and dances based on “monsters,” such as werewolves and vampires.
Student Council Spirit Head, Jaclyn Sakamoto, said, “When planning the pep rally, the Council really wanted to do something different. We thought of different costume categories people could enter, what type of entertainment we could have, and different decorations we could put up around the gym. Our theme for the school year is, ‘Soar To New Heights,’ so we really wanted to do that by bringing new things to students.”
