Senior Calera Schlesinger published a cookbook in honor of the late Lower School Dean Antoinette Gopaul.
“Cal’s Aloha Recipes–A Teenager’s Family’s Cookbook” consists of original recipes created by Schlesinger and her mother.
Schlesinger was inspired by a family friend who is a publisher. She created the many unique recipes from watching her mother cook.
Schlesinger’s book was featured at the annual Scholarship Fund Gala in October. The proceeds from her cookbook will benefit the memorial scholarship established in Gopaul’s name.
Schlesinger said, “When I was younger, Miss Gopaul was the one teacher who constantly worked with me when I struggled with my studies.”
Gopaul served as Schlesinger’s mentor, always putting in extra time and effort to guide her in her academic studies.
Schlesinger said, “Due to Miss Gopaul’s strong influence on me, I have been doing exceptionally well in my studies. If it wasn’t for her generous efforts to help me with my studies during elementary, I would not be the student I am today.”
