High school and lower school students lined up in the Clarence T.C. Ching Student Center Oct. 24 for the annual Aloha United Way (AUW) Bake Sale.
Parents and students donated baked goods, jellies, fruit, nuts and other snacks, allowing Academy students to buy food throughout the day.
Eighth grader LeGrand Pound said, “I’m extremely impressed this year with the donated goods. There’s so much more variety than in previous years, which encourages people to buy more.”
Senior Kindergartner Nicole Barley said, “My favorite treats are the colorful flower cookies. They taste good and look pretty so I bought two!”
The Academy raised a total of $4,542.39 this year, the highest total in the past six years of Academy participation.
Ceramics teacher Kaycie Baltunado said, “The bake sale is a good strategy for marketing, all while helping those in need.”
The school’s donation will be presented to the Executive Director of Aloha United Way during morning flag assembly in the near future.
