The 18th Annual Sacred Hearts Academy Scholarship Gala takes place on Oct. 18 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Distinguished alumnae who will be honored include Suzanne Dods Chong Kee, ‘62; Rita Gora, ‘46; Elizabeth Ho, ‘57; Momi Ka’anoi, ‘87; and, Karen Dick-Kung, ‘83.
The gala serves as the major fundraiser for the scholarship fund. One-third of the student body receives financial aid, and the gala contributes to these scholarships.
Freshman Suzanne Tsukenjo said, “The financial burden on my family is lessened because of the provided aid, allowing me and my two sisters to attend. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have the educational opportunities Sacred Hearts provides.”
Development Director Andrea Hamilton said, “The scholarship fund is a noble cause, and it is extremely important to raise involvement and contributions.”
A silent auction will be held throughout the night with the feature of mobile bidding. Attendees bid electronically through their smartphone and receive an alert every time another bid is made. There will also be a live auction to contribute to the scholarship fund.
“It is the Academy’s mission to provide education for any student who wants it, making it our duty to provide the means of this education as well,” said Hamilton.
Tickets are on sale for $125 per person. People may contact Andrea Hamilton at ahamilton@sacredhearts.org or (808) 734-5058 ext. 229.
