Interactive videos on Khan Academy and Bozeman Science allow students to learn in a modern way. With the constant advancements in technology, teachers remain up-to-date with their teaching by including these sites in their lessons.
Khan Academy is a web site that educates through video tutorials. Salman Khan, the founder of the site, has posted over 2,400 videos about principles of math, science and economics.
Senior Meryl Tagata-Mindo said, “I used one of the video tutorials on the Khan Academy web site to help me grasp the concept of elasticity that I was learning in AP Economics.”
Bozeman Science founder, Paul Anderson, created his online web site with links to home-made videos in order to assist students with complicated science concepts.
At the Academy, students have become accustomed to using online video tutorials to enhance the lessons learned in class.
Senior Tiare Sadarananda said, “Bozeman Science video tutorials help to break down complicated topics that I am learning in AP Biology. I enjoy how he presents the material in a simplified version with a lot of animations and pictures.”
The use of online tutorials allows teachers to broaden their teaching capabilities and offers students another way to learn new concepts and lessons.
AP Biology teacher, Erin Flynn, said, “I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from students about Bozeman Science and Khan Academy. Students often watch the videos before tests or quizzes in order to reinforce the learned material.”
