The Academy Lancer marching band marched along Kalakaua Avenue through Waikiki in the 67th Annual Aloha Festivals Floral Parade on Sept. 28.
Saxophone player Nicole Corpuz said, “We have been preparing for this parade since the start of school. This is the longest parade that we march in throughout the school year.”
The Aloha Festivals Floral Parade began in 1947 as a means of expression for the diverse cultures and traditions of Hawaii. In recent years, the parade has been ranked in the top three floral parades and one of the top 25 parades in the United States.
The parade consists of floral floats, equestrians, drill teams, clowns and marching bands.
The largest all-girl marching band in the nation, the Lancer marching band will also be making appearances in the Waikiki Holiday Parade and the Kaimuki Christmas Parade.
