Junior Lauren Nagamine has a role in the upcoming film, “Peace by Piece.”
Nagamine said, “I have done many theater productions in the past, and I enjoy acting and performing very much. When the opportunity came up to do a film, I couldn’t turn it down. I also did it for the challenge because the scenes were very serious and emotional.
“One of my dance instructors knew the director, and she asked me if I was interested in auditioning. There at the audition we did a cold reading of the script, and I originally thought that I wouldn’t get in because I wasn’t able to cry on demand, but I was very lucky to have been cast and it was an amazing experience.”
Produced and directed by Michael Ng, the movie is about a girl who lost contact with her father after her parents divorced when she was a child. Years later, her stepmother calls to tell her that her father is seriously ill and will die soon. She reluctantly goes to her father but is reminded of her childhood without him.
The film will be shown at the Hawaii International Film Festival in October.
