Sen. Brian Schatz is offering an internship opportunity for high school seniors from October to May.
“Schatz Seniors” will attend community visits, staffing events and help the senator identify community issues. The internship is in Hawaii and students will miss little to no class time.
Fifteen students will be selected for the program based on their involvement and leadership in school and the community. The statewide opportunity is being offered to private, public, charter and home school students.
The senator hopes this internship will provide a first-hand experience of the U.S. Senate, teaching teenagers about the inner workings of the government.
Applications will be accepted until Sept. 13. They can be found at http://www.schatz.senate.gov/documents/seniors_application.pdf with the hard copy mailed to the Senator’s office.
