Seniors Rebekah Kai and Seann Kailio attended the Hillsong Conference in Sydney, Australia, from July 1-5 at the Sydney Olympic Park.
Kai said, “I am lucky enough to attend Hillsong every summer because my dad is a pastor at Inspire Church in Waikele. However, every year is a different experience and special in its own way.”
The senior pastors and founders of Hillsong Church, Brian and Bobbie Houston, run the conference every year and focus on a different theme.
Kailio said, “The theme, or name of this year’s conference, was ‘Revive.’ It focused on the fact that no matter what happens in life, whether we fail or things don’t go as planned, we will always rise up through faith.”
Over 10,000 people from many countries attended. The variety of cultures and ethnic backgrounds connecting them by faith made the experience worthwhile.
Kailio said, “The experience was life-changing. It may be uncanny to say, but if we only get one epiphany in our lifetime, I had mine in Australia. I came home with a broader view on life. I believe I am still the same but with a heightened sense of simplicity, appreciation and deeper connection to Christ.”
