Sacred Hearts Academy will be using a new service called Blackboard Connect, which is directly tied to Edline accounts. The purpose of the service is to communicate information to all members of the Academy as quickly as possible.
The Academy is also updating its Crisis Management Plan.
The program was initiated due to the incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14. Twenty students and six adults were shot and killed.
High school vice-principal Linda Debo said, “The purpose of Blackboard Connect is to communicate important information with all members of the Sacred Hearts family. This service sends the most information in the shortest amount of time.”
On Feb. 15 the Academy will run a practice test of the Blackboard Connect service. In the test will be information about upcoming drills and procedures to keep students safe.
