Sophomores shared memories and stories at St. Anthony’s Retreat Center. The theme for the retreat was God Loves Everyone Equally (GLEE).
Sophomore Megan Garcia said, “ I really liked this year’s theme. I thought it was a great way to show that we all are equal and should treat others with respect. Respect is something people are starting to forget.”
Activities were designed to get students to be willing to rekindle friendships and to make new ones.
Retreat leader Mary Antopina said, “ Our goal for this retreat was to allow students to start at the same place and grow together. We really wanted to strengthen the bond between classmates that they usually do not hang out with. We deliberately placed them in groups outside of their ‘clique’.”
“ It was really nice to get away from classes and homework for a day. I feel like I really got to know my classmates better during the map of my life activity. We shared the highest and the lowest points in our lives and some people really opened up and shared personal stories. It was quite emotional and we all shared a bond within our groups,” said Michelle Mestanza.
